Version History

How RSM evolved through correction

Current Version: v0.988

December 2025

Change What It Does Why It Matters
Postulate 4 X * Y = k (Reciprocal Constraint) Makes P1 = 1 derivation explicit and modular
Part VI: Extensions Temporal O1 derivation Shows present moment as parallel to spatial O1
Appendix F Epistemic Status Classification Explicit tier system for all claims
Appendix G Dependency Graph Visual trace from foundations to claims

v0.987

December 2025

Integration Round

  • QED Compression: Added derivation summary after Abstract
  • Kleiber's Law: Second empirical domain (M^0.75 scaling)
  • Appendix C: Why pi must be irrational
  • Appendix D: Spring Coil visualization

Why: Prior version needed clearer empirical grounding and visualization aids.

v0.986

December 2025

Locked Corrections (Major)

  • O1 as generative: Changed from "empty center" to "generative position"
  • Infinite divisibility: Mathematical reason for unoccupiability made explicit
  • Measurement crisis: Static position incoherent, rotation necessary
  • Continuous transformation: No origin from void, no collapse into void
  • Euler's identity: Explicit Contrast/Rotation/Closure encoding
  • Three requirements: Formalized as core pattern

Why: v0.985 had conceptual drift. O1 was being described with "emptiness" language that confused the framework's core claim.

v0.985

December 2025

Formalization Round

  • Russell's paradox: Analogy for V0 prohibition
  • IVT formalization: O1 existence proof structure
  • Minimax framing: phi selection principle
  • n=4 downgraded: From "prohibited" to "conjecture"
  • Eight-point synthesis: Summary structure

Why: Needed more rigorous mathematical grounding and explicit uncertainty.

v0.984

December 2025

Metasemantic Frame

  • O1 as forbidden fixed point: Precision on what "unoccupiable" means
  • Scoped phi derivation: Conditions made explicit
  • DDJ correspondence principle: Mapping rules formalized
  • Dependency graph: First version
  • Pedagogical principle: Presentation vs. ontology distinguished

Why: Framework was conflating derivation order with ontological priority.

v0.983

December 2025

DDJ Deepening

  • Chapter 11: Semi-permeable membrane analysis (wheel/pot/room)
  • Chapter 25: zi/ming distinction formalized
  • Pedagogical vs. ontological: Sequence isn't priority

Why: DDJ readings were too shallow; needed structural analysis.

v0.982

December 2025

Structure Overhaul

  • Core logic first: Reorganized presentation
  • phi derivation: Hurwitz theorem application
  • Verification tables: Systematic claim checking
  • Epistemic status: First classification attempt

Why: Document was becoming hard to navigate; needed clearer structure.

Earlier Versions (v0.978-v0.981)

  • v0.981: Refinements - 非 hedging, biology scope, 和/玄 distinction, 復 operator
  • v0.980: 玄牝 (generative void), 非 structure, developmental biology validation
  • v0.979: Derivation of phi from frame-invariance, master identity, pentagon connection
  • v0.978: Core operator grammar, Euler identity reading, 利/用 complementarity

These versions established the basic framework. Later versions corrected and refined.

Pre-v0.978

Earlier work existed but wasn't versioned systematically. The v0.978+ series represents the formalized framework.

Key insight: Version numbering started when we realized we needed to track corrections, not just additions.

How to Read Old Documents

If you encounter an earlier version:

  1. Check the version number. Pre-v0.986 documents may use "empty center" language.
  2. Note the date. Earlier documents may lack locked corrections.
  3. Prefer current version. Later versions correct earlier errors.
  4. Core claims are stable. V0 prohibition, O1 existence, and three requirements haven't changed - only their articulation has improved.

The Correction Principle

"Version history is evidence of honesty. A framework that never corrects itself either got everything right the first time (unlikely) or isn't paying attention to its mistakes."

RSM improves through explicit correction. Each version notes what changed and why. This is deliberate: we want mistakes to be visible and their fixes traceable.

Upcoming

Planned for future versions:

  • - Expanded empirical validation section
  • - Additional DDJ chapter analyses
  • - Cross-domain mapping refinements
  • - Whatever corrections emerge from ongoing steelman analysis

No roadmap is fixed. The framework develops in response to critique.
